JEWELLERY DESIGNER AND MAKER
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is primarily inspired by aspects of Maths and Physics, particularly shape distortion through reflection and light diffraction, and 2D representation of 3D objects. I am interested in the exploitation of geometry in creative work, such as in the paintings of Kandinsky, and how traditionally academic subjects can both enhance and restrict creative processes. By containing the rebellious nature of spray paint, I contrast notions of colour with rigid geometrical lines and kinetic elements to create adjustable pieces which embody the juxtaposition between creativity and mathematical rules.
